The locals of Tujan area in Pulwama district of Kashmir on Saturday held a protest here after a Covid-19 victim’s body was sent in a blanket, without a casket.
Abdul Rashid Dar, a local speaking to The Kashmiriyat, said that a 55-year-old female who died of covid-19 at SKIMS on Saturday morning, was brought to the village
They also alleged that the person accompanying the lady was not sent back with any protective gear.
“As the locals got agitated, a doctor among the medical team accompanying the deceased lady left his infectious PPE kit on the road here and fled which speaks the volumes of seriousness these people give to the Covid-19 related advisories.

The residents demanded an enquiry and questioned the SKIMS authorities’ handling of the victim bodies.
Doctors in SKIMS upon being contacted told The Kashmiriyat that the deceased lady was a case of Meningioma with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
“The patient died due to cardiopulmonary arrest,” he had said.
