Non-Kashmiris from any part of Indian mainland will now be able to get government ration in Jammu Kashmir.
On Tuesday, the One Nation-One Ration Card scheme was launched in Jammu Kashmir, In the initial phase it has been started on only two government ration depots.
The government aims to implement the scheme across the state by the end of August 2020.
Lieutenant Governor’s Advisor Farooq Khan launched the scheme in Bhagwati Nagar and distributed government ration among laborers of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
During this period, Simrandeep Singh, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Director Jitendra Singh were also present.
Starting the scheme, Farooq Khan said, “Citizens of any part of the country can get government ration under the National Food Security Act.”
The scheme was announced by the central government last year, but has been taken on priority basis during the lockdown.
Khan said that under this scheme, now citizens of any place will be able to get ration anywhere in the country. After this scheme, now a ration card will run in the entire country, which will be linked to Aadhaar.
