Forest Catches Fire in Anantnag- Officials Fail to Reach the Spot on Day 2

A fire broke out in the forests of BraedAngan area of Shangus area of Islamabad (Anantnag) in South Kashmir on Wednesday.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a forest range, compartment number 72 caught massive fire on Wednesday and the widespread fire has caused massive loss to the forest area.

“We are fearing for our lives and for our forests, which we have held dearly to our existence, how cruel is that Government is not willing to doze off the fire,” a resident told The Kashmiriyat.

The locals of the area contacted the Range office of the Forest Department, however nobody from the officials has reached the spot as of yet, Locals said.

District Forest Officer of Anantnag, Feroz Ahmed Chaket upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that he is on spot along with his team. “The team is trying hard to doze off the fire,” he said.

He also ridiculed the local narrative and said that the forest caught fire on Thursday.
