Spokesman Gholamhossein stated that Reza Asgari after retiring from Iran’s defence ministry’s aerospace division in 2016, had passed information regarding Iran’s missile programme to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Reza Asgari was also executed for providing intelligence to Israel‘s Mossad intelligence agency regarding the movements of Iranian forces in Syria.
In July 2019, Iran’s intelligence ministry had convicted 17 people for allegations of passing information to the CIA about the country’s nuclear and military sectors.

Although some of them had been sentenced to death, the Iranian ministry had not given out any names.
In June, Jalal Hajizavar, a former contractor for Iran’s defense ministry was executed after confessing that he had been paid to spy for the CIA.
As of now, no immediate comments have come from the US officials about Reza Asgari’s execution.
