More than a Year Post the Detention of Mehbooba Mufti, PDP Allowed to Meet in Srinagar

After more than a year post the restrictions, arrests, denials, the Jammu Kashmir admin on Wednesday allowed the People’s democratic party to meet for the first time post the abrogation of special status of Jammu Kashmir.

The leaders who met here at the Party headquarters in Srinagar included leaders including Abdul Rehman Veeri, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Khursheed Aalam, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, Suhail Bukhari and others.

People’s Democratic Party earlier on Wednesday condemned the attack on Journalists in South Kashmir who were rounded up by Forces near the encounter site in Pulwama on Tuesday.

The Wednesday’s meeting had been organized by the Youth wing of the People’s Democratic Party, Earlier, a meeting called by PDP for the first after trashing of Jammu Kashmir’s special status was foiled by the government by putting all the leaders under house detention.

PDP leaders ridiculing the official claims of the central Government in which the Home Ministry had claimed that nobody was under house arrest in Jammu Kashmir said, “We have been under house detention for the past 13 months, PDP is being targeted constantly by the central Government.”

Mehbooba Mufti was among hundreds of other Kashmiris who were detained under the Public Safety act in the aftermath of the removal of the Articles 370 and 35a which granted partial autonomy to Jammu Kashmir.
