During vehicular checking by police at village Ladermud in Awantipora, a vehicle bearing registration number DL2CAV-3342 was intercepted by the police. During the checking, around 30 kg poppy straw (fukki), concealed in gunny bags, was recovered from the car.
The person who was driving the car to transport the consignment has been arrested and identified as Rahil Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Waghama Bijbehara, Anantnag. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized by the police.
A case FIR No. 131/2020 under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1958, has been registered at police station in Awantipora.
The police has requested the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
