
The 43-year-old Jhilani building in Maharashtra’s power loom town, Bhiwandi, collapsed at around 4:30 am on Monday. The building had 40 flats and houses, which accommodated around 150 people.
As many as ten people have been reportedly killed in the tragic building collapse accident in Bhiwandi. A four-year old boy was rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). According to reports, ten more people are expected to be trapped under the collapse.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish over the building collapse and assured that the possible assistance is being provided to the affected people.
“Saddened by the building collapse in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for a quick recovery of those injured. Rescue operations are underway and all possible assistance is being provided to the affected,” tweeted PM Modi.
