On Tuesday morning, the 19-year-old Dalit girl, who was gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, dies, after battling for life, as per the reports.
She was battling for her life at a Delhi hospital after being allegedly gang-raped by four upper-caste men. She was not only gang-raped but strangulated by the perpetrators. There was a serious cut on her tongue, indicating that there was an attempt to strangulate her.
The girl died nearly two weeks after she was gang-raped on September 14.
She was taken to a hospital in Aligarh the next day in a critical condition, later moved to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for better treatment. The woman was in critical condition and was on a ventilator.
The girl had gone to the fields with her mother on a fateful day and had gone missing soon after. She was later found brutally injured, with her deep cuts on the tongue. The accused also attempted to strangulate her, as police said.
According to Hathras ASP Prakash Kumar, the police had later arrested the four accused.
And had been booked under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and later charged with gang-rape under Section 376 D.
Several political leaders from the Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party have condemned the incident and slammed the Yogi government over the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
