HAL Employee Arrested for Supplying Sensitive Information to Pakistan

Deepak Shirsath,a 40 year employee of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was arrested on Friday by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad in Nashik for supplying confidential information fighter aircraft to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency . 

Shirsath was supplying the information through social media and WhatsApp the police said.

Vinay Rathod the Deputy Commissioner of Police, said, “The Nashik unit of the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) received reliable intelligence about the man, who was in constant touch with ISI. The man, identified as Deepak Shirsath, was supplying confidential information about Indian fighter aircraft and their manufacturing unit to the Pakistani spy agency through WhatsApp and social media..”

It was revealed that Shirsath regularly was in  touch with ISI, and was sending the information related to the HAL aircraft and their sensitive details, along with the aircraft manufacturing unit at Ozar, Nashik, and the airbase and prohibited areas inside the manufacturing unit were also shared to the ISI by him, the official said. 

He has been arrested under the sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923. 

Three mobile phones were recovered from him, along with five SIM cards and two memory cards.

All items seized by the police have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. 

The seized items will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. 

Shirsath has been sent in 10-day police custody.

He was working as an assistant supervisor at HAL.
