Forest Department Frees 120 Kanals of Encroached Land in Pahalgam

The Forest Department in a massive anti-encroachment drive on Tuesday freed over one-hundred twenty kanals of land here in the Lidroo forest area of Pahalgam in Islamabad (Anantnag) district in South Kashmir.

An official who was a part of the anti-encroachment drive team speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that “A massive anti-encroachment drive was carried by the Forest Department under the supervision of Range Officer Pahalgam Haji Altaf alongside his staff on the directions of DFO Lidder in the local forest area.”

The drive was conducted in forest compartment numbers 29L, 31L and 32L concluded at about 4:30 in the evening.

“During this drive more than 120 Kanals of forest land, possessing around 200 walnut and willow trees, was freed from the clutches of illegal possession of locals,” the official said.

Two make-shift structures were also demolished during the drive, he added.
