People from Palpora area in Dialgam of Anantnag district on monday staged a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide them drinking water.
Scores of women from Palpora assembled on road and blocked traffic for nearly three hours.
The residents speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that due to immense shortage of drinking water family the residents approached concerned authorities many a times, but nothing was done on ground level.
The protesters blocked the Kokernag to Anantnag road leading to a long and messy traffic jam in the road.
Shouting slogans against the PHE Department, the locals demanded scheduled drinking water supply in area.
Later on Deputy Superintendent of Police for Anantnag district along with the local Station House Officer and other officials assured the locals that the water supply to the area will be restored.

Meanwhile, The Kashmiriyat appraised rhe issue with with the Exen PHE, Mohd Hanif and AEE PHE Kokernag, Javaid Ahmed who said that due to the dry spell the locals are facing the problem of water shortage.
They said that we look into the matter and reslove problem as soon as possible.
