1266 Tractors in Kupwara not Given Registration Numbers

The Tractor Union Dealers, Kupwara on Sunday said that the authorities have left them in trauma as around 1266 tractors in the district are not getting registration numbers due to unknown reasons.

Talking to a local news agency, Kashmir News Service, President of the Union Fayaz Ahmad told on 1st Aug 2019 Motor Vehicle Department issued an order in which they asked to pay a 9 percent registration fee and tractors were made commercial vehicles.

He also said that when they are visiting the concerned ARTO for registration, they are demanding Agricultural certificates which we don’t have. He also said that if tractors were made commercial vehicles then why department asking for the agriculture certificates.

He further said nor bank is providing us the loans by saying it is not commercial which has left the owner of the tractor in trauma.

Ahmad said we are ready to pay 9% registration fee in yearly installments but no police not traffic department should challan us for using Trolleys.

Tractors owners said the hide and seek game of department has left them in distress. They appealed LG Minoj Sinha to intervene in the matter at an earliest.

Despite many calls and attempts to Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, he didn’t bother to pick the call. (KNS)
