Passengers who were travelling in a Xylo Vehicle Saturday had a narrow escape from being hit by a snow avalanche on Srinagar-Leh Road near Zojila Pass.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that a Xylo Vehicle bearing registration JK07/4604 who were travelling from Srinagar to Kargil after Srinagar-Leh Highway re-opened for light motor vehicles got stuck near Zojila, however in the meantime a massive snow avalanche hit it and passengers mericulously escaped from the vehicle.
The SHO Police Station Drass Manzoor Hussain Mir told that they were informed that a Xylo vehicle have got stuck near Zojila pass after it came under heavy avalanche and need to be evacuated immediately.
He said “that we immediately reached the spot.”
He further said that after hectic efforts we managed to evacuate only passengers from vehicle. We also took the help of Beacon labourers and put the snow cutter to remove the snow, but due to strong winds there was a lot of difficulty in evacuate the vehicle from the avalanche.
He added that tomorrow we will reach this place again and try to evacuate the Vehicle from there.
However, No injury or lose of life was reported in the incident, he said.
