Locals from Ganderbal Area Protest Water Shortage for Past 10 Days, Block Roads

Scores of residents of Check Akhal in Kangan area of Ganderbal district in Kashmir staged a protest against the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department complaining of acute shortage of drinking water in their locality.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the residents who blocked the Akhal road in Kangan, Ganderbal, said that despite the frequent attempts of the locals to get the water problem of their area addressed, the admin has paid no heed to their demands.

Raising slogans against the PHE (Jal-Shakti) department they said, “Even though we have been provided connections, but no water supply runs through those pipes.”

The residents are facing immense problems due to the water shortage in the area, which has been hit for the past ten days, the locals alleged.

Meanwhile, the traffic remained suspended on the road, which was restored only after the police reached the spot and promised the locals of addressing the issue immediately.
