95 Votes Cast out of 1961 in Kawoosa Budgam till 11 AM

The ongoing fourth phase of District development council (DDC) elections in Jammu Kashmir recorded a voting percentage of 8.16 percent.

Official stats reveal in Kashmir Division, Kupwara has recorded voting percentage of 5.14%, Bandipora 7.56%, Baramulla 7.17%, Ganderbal 3.77%, Budgam 6.56%, Pulwama 1.39%, Shopian 0.57%, Kulgam 0.57% and Anantnag 2.77% till 09:00 am.

People in the Kawoosa area of Budgam, however choose to stay indoors and only 95 persons had cast their ballots at 11 AM out of the 1961 registered voters in the five polling booths in the area.

An official deputed in Budgam speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that five polling boots had been set up in the area which recorded very scarce voting and people choose to stay indoors in the fourth phase of the DDC Elections.

Pertinently, Kawoosa is the native to the top Laskhar commander, Mohammed Yusuf alias Kantur, who has been active for the past many years.

As per official stats, the Kashmir valley by 9 AM recorded an overall polling percentage of 4.

21% while Jammu Division recorded 12.29% upto 09:00 am.

Polling in the fourth phase is being conducted in 34 constituencies, 17 each from Jammu and Kashmir Divisions.

1910 polling stations have been set up in Kashmir while as 781 in Jammu division.
