The residents of Yakerpora of Kapran area in Verinag of south Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district are up in arms and staged a protest on Wednesday against the failure of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in providing drinking water to residents.
The protesters which included men and women said they had been facing a shortage of water for the past one month.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the residents alleged that With the onset of the winter season and Chilai Kalan, the condition and service of the PHE department has changed from bad to worse. Where we will go in these chilly days and nights”, said a group of locals from Yakerpora.
Some protesters alleged that they have brought the matter into the notice of concerned authorities but nothing has been done to restore water supply in the area as of now.
