Scores of the students of Kashmir University who applied for M Phil in the clinical psychology entrance examination were canceled without the issuance of notification on Thursday.
Speaking to The Kashmriyat the students alleged that their papers were taken back in examination halls without not issuing any official notification before the exam. They said that they received the papers with OMR sheets and they wrote their roll numbers.
“Just some minutes after they gave us the papers, our papers were taken back by the responsible authority inside the examination halls”.
A student Adil nazir, who applied for M Phil in clinical psychology exam in the university told The Kashmiriyat that the examination was arranged in two halls viz A and B. ” As we the received question papers from paper distributer in the hall “A”, we were told that not to break the seal of papers,” he said.
“As the series name was missing on the papers, they told us they will write the series to the given papers. And later on, the KU authority came up with another excuse saying that they have got a call from Governor’s office, and said that some students from Jammu missed the examination, so this might delay the exams, ” he added.
Alleging that as the news reached hall “B” examination, chaos and confusion spread and they came out from their hall too.
They said that the examination is a competitive one and all students should not be made to suffer because of some. One of the Kashmiri students came to Saudi Arabia just to appear for the exam and due to the cancellation of the exam, she faced a huge loss.
“We reached to Vice Chancellor’s office regarding the issue, but our demands went unnoticed. Unfortunate thing is that our examination was canceled inside the examination hall, that too without any notification,” they alleged.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the students demanded transparency in their examination.
The Kashmiriyat tried to speak to the controller examinations who said that the exams are conducted by GMC Srinagar. When we tried to contact the examiner in charge, he was not available for comments.
The Story will be updated, in case we hear from the officials concerned.
