The 4G internet speed in Jammu Kashmir has been extended by an official order, the ban will continue till 5 February.
After the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu Kashmir on 5 August 2019, the Central Government completely stopped the mobile Internet service.
Security agencies say that anti-national elements would then intensify propaganda and internet service would prove to be helpful for them.
About four months later, in addition to Jammu division, in some districts of Kashmir, this service was started with 2G internet speed.
The Home Department held several meetings with security agencies and representatives of the district administration to discuss the restoration of 4G internet speed, but each time the ban was pushed forward citing security arrangements.
Today once again the Home Department had called a review meeting to discuss the restoration of 4G internet speed in Jammu Kashmir.
4G-speed cellular knowledge companies will proceed within the districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur, whereas in different districts, the web velocity will likely be restricted to 2G solely, learn an order dated January 22, by the Dwelling Division of Jammu Kashmir.
The Dwelling Division stated that restrictions have been positioned “in view of nicely-established apprehensions in regards to the dissemination of inflammatory and seditious propaganda materials”. Enough entry to the web by means of broadband companies over landline has been allowed, it stated.
