DDC Ganderbal Distributes over 67 Lighting Units among Weavers of District

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today distributed 67 Solar Lighting Units among the beneficiaries of Block Level Cluster, Alastang Ganderbal under the National Handloom Development scheme (NHDP) during a function organized by Weavers Service Centre Srinagar at Town Hall Ganderbal.

Joint Director of Handloom Development Department Kashmir, Dr. Nargis Suraya, Assistant Director Handloom Development Department Ganderbal, Imtisaal Rasool, Assistant Director Handicrafts Department Ganderbal, Tsering Dolma, Assistant Director Weavers Service Centre Srinagar, Tahir Ahmad Hakim and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion the DDC appreciated the department for their dedicated work towards the upliftment of the weaver community and urged them to organize camps to make weavers aware about the prevailing welfare schemes being run by department.

The chief aim of Solar Light Distribution program was to uplift the morale of the weaver community who mostly belong to the below poverty line section of the society and direly needs the financial as well as technical support from the department, as mentioned in a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat.

The weavers present at the event were urged to take benefit from various schemes available with the department besides stressed upon the weavers to adopt new technology and develop new design so that the quality of products and their earning is improved.
