Pertinently Political parties in Jammu Kashmir have been demanding the removal of the restrictions that were imposed on high-speed Internet Services in Jammu Kashmir for 551 Days now.
The Supreme Court of India had intervened and expressed resentment asking the authorities in JK to take a considered stand on the possibility of providing 4G Internet services in Kashmir.
Internet services were stopped in Jammu Kashmir on 04 August 2019, a day before the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A, However, 2G Internet service was restored on 25 January 2020. After this, high-speed internet service was started on 16 August 2020 in Udhampur and Ganderbal on ‘Trial Basis’, which has been retained even today, but only 2G internet service was continued in the rest of the districts.

Mobile internet would be available to pre-paid subscribers in Jammu Kashmir only after thorough verification.
Meanwhile telecom authorities say they have received no orders to restore 4G services as of yet.
