Ganderbal Police Launches Drive Against Hunters

Our wetlands are an important part of the ecosystem, which need to be preserved under all circumstances.

The migratory birds during the winter season find these wetlands in Jammu Kashmir as the most suitable habitat but the poachers and hunters are their main enemies who cause irreparable loss by hunting these birds.

The Police told The Kashmiriyat that Ganderbal Police has started a special drive to act against these hunters and in this regard, FIR 21/ 2021 U/S 51 wildlife protection act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal.

Two accused persons namely 1. Javid Ahmad Malla S/O Mohammad Yousuf Malla R/O. Fethapora Ganderbal 2. Mushtaq Ahmad Malla S/O. Ghulam Rasool Malla R/O. Fethapora Ganderbal has been arrested in the instant case who have misused their licensed weapon and caused huge loss to the wetlands in Shallbugh area of District Ganderbal by killing of a considerable number of aquatics birds.

SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmed Poswal- JKPS has taken up the matter with District Magistrate Ganderbal for cancellation of Licenses of such persons who are misusing the licensed weapons and causing destruction of migratory birds.

Teams have been constituted to keep watch in wetland areas and ensure action against these culprits.
