Four Day Old Militant Among the Two Militants Killed in Anantnag Encounter

Two Militants have been killed in the encounter at Sirhama forests in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.

Two Assault rifles AK-47 Rifles and their dead bodies have been recovered from the site of the gunfight, after a gunfight that broke out early morning between Joint Government Forces and Militants.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that during the search operation conducted by 03 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF following the inputs about the presence of militants in the area who were given an opportunity to surrender, however, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

The Militants were killed and their identities are being ascertained, officials told The Kashmiriyat.

However, Sources identified the slain as Zahid Ahmed Rather and Adil Ahmed Bhat, both residents of Anantnag.

Zahid Ahmed Rather, as per Sources had gone missing from his home last week and had joined the Militant outfit Lashkar e Mustafa, on 19 February 2021.

The Second Militant identified as Adil Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Hameed Bhat, a resident of the Sheetipora area in Bijbehara had joined MIlitancy in November last year.

Mobile internet services were snapped in the Anantnag district only to be restored later in the afternoon.

The Police has called in the families to identify the bodies of the slain youth.
