On Friday, Jammu Kashmir High Court quashed the detention of 12th class student namely Omar Akbar Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, resident of Brat Kalan area of Sopore.
Omar Akbar Mir was arrested in 2019 by the Sopore police after the abrogation and was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). Reportedly, he was arrested under the charges of stone pelting and was lodged in Bomai police station.
After he was booked under PSA, he was shifted to Bhaderwah Jail.
Last year in September, the court had allowed the detainee to appear in the examination under police custody.
After hearing the arguments of Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak, who represented Mir, Justice Vinod Chatterji quashed his detention under Public Safety Act and directed authorities to release him from Bhaderwah Jail.
