As covid-19 cases continue to show an upward surge in Jammu Kashmir, the administration in Jammu Kashmir is planning to re-imposing night curbs across the region.
The aministration, as reported earlier by The Kashmiriyat is planning to make “area specific Containment Zones” and increasing RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT), random sampling in schools and colleges and acting tough on those violating the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) like wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing.
The administrations in Shopian, Kulgam and Srinagar have so far issued the fresh SOPs asking the general public to adhere to covid protocols including wearing the masks in public spaces.
The Government has also decided to go ahead with restrictions imposed at Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu Kashmir following fresh spread of COVID-19 in the neighbouring Punjab where number of cases of UK’s new virus have also been found.
Arti Ahuja, IAS Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an order in view of the battle against COVID-19 with the rising number of cases asking the states to adhere to covid protocols and impose restrictions on the celebration of festivals.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an order dated 23.03.2021 for effective control of COVID-19 according to which the states have been directed to impose restrictions on upcoming festivals such Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Bihu, Easter and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The MHA has advised that States may consider imposing local restrictions in public observation of these festivals and limit/do away with mass gatherings.
