An encounter has raged between Government Forces and Militants in the Shopian town of south Kashmir.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that Jammu Kashmir Police, 44 RR of Indian Army, and 142 Battalion of CRPF launched a joint search operation in the Jan Mohalla of Shopian town following specific inputs on Militant movement in the area.
He said that the firing raged when the Militants opened fire upon the forces, to which the forces retaliated.
Initial inputs suggest that two to three Militants are trapped at the site of the encounter.
As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is on.
