Even Women are not Spared in Naya Kashmir, Says Mehbooba Mufti After Woman Booked under UAPA

The former Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir and the president of Jammu Kashmir People’s democratic party, Mehbooba Mufti on Friday condemned the slapping of UAPA against Saima Akhter who was seen questioning the Government Forces in a viral video.

Taking to Twitter, Ms. Mufti wrote, “Saima Akhter from Kulgam has been slapped with UAPA for raising legitimate questions about searching her home repeatedly without any reason. Saima’s ailing mother understandably exacerbated her worries. When it comes to cruelty even women aren’t spared in Naya Kashmir.

Earlier The Kashmiriyat reported that Saima Akher, a PSO from Kulgam was booked under the Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act lodged in the nearby Yaripora Police Station.

Saima aged 30, who is a resident of Frisal area in a viral video was heard shouting at Government Force personnel who were conducting a cordon and search operation in the Frisal area of South Kashmir Kulgam district on Wednesday morning.
