‘Why Should we Pay Bills’- Ganderbal Residents Irked Over Power Cuts During Sehri and Iftaar

The Residents of several villages in Sub Division Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have complained over unscheduled power cuts during the ongoing month of holy Ramadan.

People from the areas Kangan, Margund, Prang, Cherwan, Bonibagh, Mamer, Hari Ganiwan, Sumbal, Gund, Fraw, Haknar, Kullan in Ganderbal alleged that the areas are facing immense problems due to unscheduled power cuts particularly at the time of Sehri and Iftar.

Speaking to The  Kashmiriyat the residents said that the department is very particular about paying bills on time, however, providing electricity is one of the last preferences to them.  “first time since I have lived,  the PDD is still following the winter power supply schedule by almost May which is causing immense inconvenience,” a resident Abdul Kareem told The Kashmiriyat.

“The electricity is playing hide and seek for the past one week, particularly in the Sehri and Iftar time,” the complainants added.

During the ongoing month of holy Ramadan, power has been playing hide-and-seek at the Sehri and iftar time.

“We appealed the officials of PDD to improve the power supply, but to no avail,” said a local, addding, “Despite payment of the power tariff in time, the power department continues to test our patience,” he said.

The residents have threatened to come on roads if PDD fails to provide them uninterrupted electricity.
