On Tuesday morning, an encounter has broken out between militants and Government forces in Vailoo area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official confirming the exchange of gunfire said that a joint team of Government Forces including Indian Army’s 19 RR, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a Cordon and search Operation (CASO)following inputs about militant presence in the Vailoo area.
As soon as the forces moved closer to the suspected spot, the Militants opened fire, to which the forces retaliated, the official said.

As per the initial reports, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
