
The Jammu Kashmir administration in a major step is likely to notify the rules for SRO 520 and thousands of employees will be regularized across the region.
Thousands of need based and casual labourers working in various departments for over a decade felt cheated after the Government failed to regularize their services through the same was announced by then People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition in 2017.
Sources said that as a policy matter the administration in a few days is likely to regularize the services of 62,000 daily rated workers in Jammu Kashmir who area engaged in various departments for last two decades from time to time.
They told The Kashmiriyat the process will be set in motion and the directives will be issued to all heads of departments to frame the lists of the eligible workers who have completed over 10 years of services.
The step, if implemented, is likely to come as a major relief to thousands of workers across Jammu Kashmir who have been engaged in various departments including PDD, R&B, PHE, Education and various departments.
Though there is no official word from the administration, the step proposed by the Central Government is likely to be initiated this month and will be carried out in a nine-phased process.
The PDP- BJP Government had also proposed to regularize these employees however, the process completely failed.
The causal laborers working in Government departments are technical hands and they deserve to be paid the highest rate.
