‘Seek Consent from Director Health Services First’- JK Administration Gags Information on Black Fungus

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu Kashmir on Monday after declaring the Black Fungal as an epidemic disease also asked health professionals to not share any information regarding the management of the epidemic of Mucormycosis without prior permission from Director Health Service, Jammu/Kashmir.

The Jammu Kashmir admin directed all the Government and private health facilities, Medical Colleges will follow the guidelines for screening, diagnosis, management of Mucormycosis, issued by the MOHFW (Gol)/ICMR/Government of Jammu and Kashmir as amended from time to time and make it mandatory for all these facilities to report suspected and confirmed cases to Health Department through District Level Chief Medical Officers and Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP).

They said that no person/ institution or organization will spread any information or material for the management of Mucormycosis without prior permission from Director of Health Service, Jammu/Kashmir.

The admin also said that no person/ institution or organization will use any print/ electronic or any other form of media for Mucormycosis without prior permission from Director Health Services, Jammu/ Kashmir.

The Jammu Kashmir also asked people to obey the order and if anyone found violating it will be dealt strictly with.

The reply of the person/ institution or organization received against the notice will be reviewed by the aforementioned District Committee. If the reply is not received within the stipulated time of receipt of the notice or if the reply is found unsatisfactory by the Committee and it is confirmed that the person/ institution or organization has disobeyed regulations, the Chief Medical Officer of the concerned district will take necessary action against the. Delinquent person/institution or organization as per Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.

The Admin also plans to penalize the person. They said that disobeying the official order will be a punishable offense under section 188 of Indian Penal Code(45 of 1860)
