‘Pay me Money, I will Get your Children Relesed’- BJP Member Arrested for Cheating Two Families

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested a Sarpanch of the Bhartiya Janta Party for cheating two families after he allegedly took Rs 1.1 Lakh from families of two persons arrested for questioning in a militancy-related case,

An official told The Kashmiriyat that two persons from the Kokernag area of Anantnag were summoned by the Police in connection with a Militancy-related case. While the duo was being questioned, their families approached the BJP Sarpanch, Nisar Ahmed Khan, a resident of the Kadipora area of Anantnag. “He promised them that once they give him the money, he will get their children released,” the official said.

During the course of the investigation, the Police found that the two were not involved in Militancy after which the two were released.

During the investigation, it was also found that the families had paid money to Nisar Ahmad Khan who is a Sarpanch of Bharatiya Janta Party from the Gopalpora area.

Nisar had approached police and also sought an appointment with a police officer for the same, police has said in its press release.’

They said, “FIR No 238/2021 under section 420 IPC (cheating and dishonesty) was registered in Police Station Anantnag against the accused and money so paid to him has been recovered.”

The Police has arrested the Sarpanch in the instant case and launched further investigation.
