On the second anniversary of the abrogation of the special status of Jammu Kashmir, most of the shops remained closed in parts of Srinagar city including Lal Chowk.
India Today reported that in several areas of the city, the shops were closed. However, in other areas including Budgam, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kupwara, the shops were open.
The former Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti termed the day as a “Black Day.”
“No words or pictures are enough to depict the pain, torment & upheaval inflicted upon J&K on this black day two years ago. When unbridled oppression is unleashed & gross injustice heaped there is no other choice but to resist to exist,” the former Jammu Kashmir chief minister said in a tweet.
The Bhartiya Janta Party organized celebrations in various parts of Jammu Kashmir.
