In view of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15, the entrance of the Red Fort has been barricaded with Shipping Containers, that tower like walls.
The Delhi Police says that the barricading is being done for security reasons.
The police cited the farmers’ tractor rally of January 26, and said that the rally took a ‘violent turn’. Hence, the police says they’re not taking any chances.
They also said that the barricades will be decorated ahead of the Independence Day.
Many sources, as per NDTV, say this is also being done after the recent drone attacks.
Every year, the Prime Minister addresses the country from the ramparts of the Red Fort, on August 15.
Earlier this year, the protesting farmers, who have been protesting the Black Farm Laws since almost a year now, took out a tractor rally on January 26, to mark their protest and to bring it into the sight of people and the government. Although many of them were detained from the premises of the Red Fort after clashes with Security forces.
