Budgam police arrested Govt lecturer with 103 bottles of codeine syrup

Budgam police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a government lecturer with 103 bottles of codeine syrup in the Wadwan area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that during naka checking at Wadan Budgam, a police party of police post-Soibugh intercepted one vehicle, a Chevrolet Spark bearing registration number JK01L 4385.

He said During during the search of the said vehicle 103 bottles of codeine syrup were recovered from the vehicle.

A senior police officer identified the arrested drug peddler as Syed Irfan ul Haq son of Zia ud din a government lecturer in the education department, resident of Tenbagh area of Khayam in Srinagar district. The vehicle used for the Commission of the crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, “Case FIR number 244/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up,” the officer added.
