Food Safety Department Impose Penalties Of Rs 187000 On Food Business Operators At Anantnag

On Tuesday, the District Administration under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, imposed a penalty of Rs 187000 on various Food Business Operators for violating different provisions of the Act, here in Anantnag town.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the cases were filed by the Food Safety Officers against 9 operators including manufacturers and sellers of substandard and misbranded products, they were found violating Good Hygienic, Good Manufacturing practices as mandated in Schedule 04 of the Act.

During the trial of the cases, the ADC, Gulzar Ahmad, directed the Food Business Operators to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Act and desist from such illegal acts in future.

He also called for creating awareness among the stakeholders to implement the FSSA in letter and spirit for the benefit of both FBOs and consumers.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Designated Officer for the district, Zameer Ahmad along with Altaf Ahmad reiterated to enforce the Act fully on ground and appealed to the manufacturers/sellers to ensure compliance in this regard.

Food Safety Officer, Zameer Ahmad, once again requested the general people of district Anantnag to get the registration cum License and sell high standard hygiene Food. He added that if someone was found guilty, strict action will be taken against those.
