War Has Ended in Afghanistan, the Leader has Pardoned Everyone: Taliban, in Press Conference

On Tuesday, the Taliban announced, after the co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Naradar returned to Afghanistan after almost 20 years, that they’ve pledged not to seek “revenge.”

In the first conference since gaining power, the Taliban said that they will not seek revenge from their opponents in Afghanistan. The spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said that the war in Afghanistan was over and that all the opponents would be pardoned.

“War has ended… (the leader) has pardoned everyone,” spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, also adding: “We are committed to letting women work in accordance with the principles of Islam.”

As per reports, some shops opened in the capital Kabul and the Taliban had also asked the government staff to return to work, although the residents reacted cautiously. A few women also took to the streets, reportedly.

Thousands of Afghans have tried fleeing the country in order to escape Taliban’s rule, or in the fear of retribution for siding with the U.S. backed government for the past twenty years.

The Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid addressed the reporters and said that the new regime is going to be different than the earlier one.
