Three persons including two women were injured after a bear attacked them in Ananwan Kralgund village of North Kashmir’s Handwara town.
Eyewitnesses told news agency Kashmir News Trust that three family members were busy working in their kitchen garden when a bear suddenly emerged and attacked them.
The bear fled away after locals pelted stones and chased it away.
The injured who were taken to Community Health Centre Kralgund have been identified as Saja Begum wife of Ghulam Ahmed Rather, Ashia Begum wife of Abdul Hamid Rather, and Bashir Ahmed Dar.
Meanwhile, Wildlife officials have urged upon the locals living adjacent to forest areas to avoid venturing out during the evening and early morning hours during which there is maximum movement of wild animals. (KNT)
