Kashmiri Sikhs Stage Protest at Press Enclave Against the Incident of Sacrilege at Kesgarh Sahib

On Thursday, the Kashmiri Sikh community staged a protest at the Press Enclave, Srinagar, and demanded strict action against a man who was smoking a ‘beedi’ at Darbar Sahib.

After smoking the ‘beedi,’ he allegedly threw the ‘beedi’ off at the Granthi Singh at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Punjab.

The protesting Sikhs demanded strict laws against such incidents of sacrilege and those who provoke and hurt religious sentiments.

A Sikh activist from Kashmir, Angad Singh Khalsa, said that “allegedly, a person who is believed to be from Dera Sirsa sect did this act of sacrilege at one of the highest Sikh seat Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandhpur Sahib.”

Yesterday, a person went inside the Gurudwara Sahib, early morning at 4:30 a.m. and he threw the ”burning beedi” towards Guru Granth Sahib Ji, where a Ragi Singh sat, he said.

All of this has happened, again, Angad added.

“It’s not for the first time we are witnessing such incidents, unfortunately. But now, this incident was beyond our imagination, since it took place at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, a place which is known as “Home of Khalsa.”
