In order to engage the youth Of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district in sports activities and keep them away from drugs, the first Synthetic hockey turf stadium is being built in Pulwama. This synthetic hockey stadium is being constructed at BHSS (Boys Higher Secondary School) Pulwama at the cost of 5 crores under the augmentation of the sports infrastructure scheme at Jammu and Kashmir.
District Sports Officer said, in Pulwama, there are a lot of youngsters who are interested in Hockey, but lack of stadium wastes their talent, but this stadium will boost their carrier and they can prove their abilities in hockey. He further added, this will be an international standard stadium with dimensions 102 meters ×62 meters and we hope it will be completed next month in October.
The main motive is to give opportunity to the youth of Pulwama to prove their abilities and this stadium will help them and will give them exposure to hockey games. He added, once the stadium is completed we will organize state-level as well as national-level competitions here for youth who are interested in hockey and it will be of international standard where hockey players will play and can stay here. Also, structures will come up nearby the stadium for night stay.
Local youth while talking to reporters said, we are eagerly waiting for the completion of this stadium, and it is miracle that an international standard hockey stadium is being built here. They hailed the efforts of LG Manoj Sinha and Sports department Pulwama especially sports Officer Noor Sahab, who put efforts to make it possible, this international standard stadium in Pulwama was need of the hour for hockey lovers.
