Officials Recommend the Name Change of Road, Educational Institutes in Rajouri

As the Jammu Kashmir administration is changing the names of a road and a educational institutes in the region, the Municipal Council in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district has recommended the names of three roads and educational institutes after Government Force personnel killed in the line of duty.

An official letter written to the senior Superintendent of Police for Rajouri, a copy of which lies with The Kashmiriyat, under the Subject, “Naming of Road/Institution on the name of martyrs” and stated that the rename the Rajouri to to DKG Road as Brigadier Mohammed Usman road. Usman was the highest ranking officer of the Thannamandi and was killed during the Indo- Pak war of 1947.

They have also recommended the name change Thanamadni to Degree College Dv.S.P Mushtaq Ahmed Mushtaq Mir, killed IED blast in Doda during his duty.

The office of the president of Municipal Council Thanamandi has also proposed the name change of Higher Secondary School in Thanamandi after Havaldar Naseer Ahmed killed in Pulwama Attack.

“The above martyrs have lost their lives to save the mother land and deserve to be remembered so that the coming nation may able to know the supreme sacrifice for the country,” the letter further read.
