Army Man Kills Self with Service Rifle in Pulwama

An Army personnel shot himself dead inside his camp in Rajpora area of Pulwama in South Kashmir on Sunday morning.

Speaking to The Kashmiryat an official confirmed that a sepoy of 42 RR identified as Stephen Belt No. 4381687K posted at 42 RR camp Rajpora area of Awantipora shot himself with his service riffle, resulting in his on the spot death.

The causes of the suicide were know known immediately, the official said.

His body has been shifted to the hospital for completion of medical and legal formalities.

Indian Minister of State for Defense in 2019 informed the Lower House, Lok Sabha that in 2019 there were 95 cases of suicide among army, navy and air force personnel. The most were reported by the army, with 73.

As per officials more than 35 soldiers stationed in the Jammu Kashmir region committed suicide in 2020. The reasons behind the suicides are not known in most of the cases.
