The female Central Reserve Police Force constables, on Monday, frisked women in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk area in the wake of targeted civilian killing spree in Kashmir.
In what was the first of its kind, the CRPF women constables checked bags of the women who were passing by Lal Chowk.
PTI reported that the women folk didn’t resist the frisking, but some were resentful as the exercise could have been done away from the public glare.
“Women carry many things which they keep private. The CRPF women should have erected a makeshift cubicle so that privacy was maintained,” Fareeda, a woman from Soura, was quoted by PTI.
Fareeda said that she had no issues with the frisking but instead with the manner in which it was done.
Frisking of women folk has never been done in Kashmir, earlier. It comes after the targeted killing spree of Non-Locals in the valley in the past few days.
