Ganderbal Police initiated major rescue operation at Sonamarg, rescued 200 vehicles

Ganderbal Police acted swiftly to restore the movement of traffic at Sonamarg, during overnight landslides had blocked the road. Due to incessant rains in the last few days, a huge mass of land slid onto the main road at Sonamarg blocking the movement of vehicles and local population.

SHO Police Station Sonamarg received the information about the incident, he along with a Police party & other senior officers arrived at the spot and initiated the activities for clearance of landslide occurred by Snow. Police as a first responder began the rescue operation despite heavy downpours in the area. Other senior officers including SDPO Kangan were supervising the rescue efforts on the spot.

After hectic efforts, District Police Ganderbal managed to evacuate almost 200 passenger vehicles. Moreover while launching the evacuation operation, Ganderbal police put tireless efforts to save many people from any untoward incident.

Community members have appreciated the quick response of the police for promptly launching rescue operations in the area. The J&K Police is committed to securing the lives of community members and providing assistance wherever required.
