Gram Sabha At Sunbrari Magam Becomes A Flop Show

The Gram Sabha which was going to be held in the remote village of Sunbrari, Magam of Anantnag district turn into a flop show after anguished beneficiaries of Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) started chanting slogans against sarpanch and the panchyat officer.

Reportedly, the beneficiaries of the IAY said that three lists were presented during the Gram Sabha. The beneficiaries said it was unfair and and that the beneficiaries who were enlisted have already built their houses, while the deserving beneficiaires were dropped from the list.

The beneficiares were thus agitated. They started raising slogans against the concerned authorities and said that the employees enlisted the beneficiaries as per personal basis.

The locals have appealed to the Deputy Commisioner as well as BDO, Kokernag to look into the matter and investigate it immediately. They also demanded that a new list of deserved beneficiaries be framed.

Meanwhile, in this regard BDO Kokernag Muzzafar Hussain talking to The Kashmiriyat and said, “We have framed a list of deserving beneficiares on priority basis. And only eligible beneficiaries will get benefit of IAY sheds.”

He also said that a Gram Sabha will be rescheduled and PMAY sheds will be alloted to those who are eligible after verification.
