Jammu and Kashmir Students Association said that they have prepared a list of 20 colleges where “Kashmiri students are unnecessarily harassed.”

“We have prepared a list of 20 colleges in the country, where Kashmiri students are unnecessarily harassed, intimidated, and subjected to mental & physical torture whenever there is a political or sports event nationally or internationally,” the student body wrote on its official Twitter handle.

They added that “All these colleges are from UP, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Rajasthan. The students who go to other states of the country do so for serious studies. They have nothing to do with politics.”

National spokesperson of JKSA Nasir Khuehami, while talking to The Kashmiriyat said, “It’s the duty of college and university authorities to ensure security and safety of students but unfortunately, the authorities do not do that, instead they, too, blame us.”

“Since the past two years, many cases of harassment of Kashmiri students have been reported. We were expecting that college authorities will make efforts towards putting an end to the harassment, and thus, we repeatedly tried requesting the authorities but unfortunately, there was zero response from their side,” he added.

He further said, “Whenever there is any issue in Kashmir, the students are targeted in other states.”

He also added that a “list of colleges has been forwarded to the respective state governments, including the details about when and where the incidents of harassment took place.”

The student’s body added that these were the colleges that spread bigotry and hate, and harassed Kashmiri students, unnecessarily, failing to provide them protection and ensure their Safety.

“These colleges claim to be highly disciplined and say that there’s zero-tolerance against discrimination on the basis of region and religion in their respective institutions, but these claims have fallen flat and proved to be a hoax when it comes to owing the Kashmiri students,” JKSA claimed in a tweet.

Adding that “Inside many institutions, at times students are being assaulted on the basis of identity which is a sad story of identity discrimination. In a democratic country, these ludicrous minds have made the life of a Kashmiri hell.”

In another tweet, the JKSA demanded all of these colleges to be blacklisted. “We urge the Kashmiri community (Guardians) not to send their wards in such institutions for studies’ purpose,” JKSA said.

“They have sad stories of identity-based discrimination, intimidation and they fail to give them protection.” the body said.

Nasir Khuehami further told The Kashmiriyat, “I request parents and guardians not to admit their wards in such colleges where right-wing elements target students. Know about the college and state’s background first. Don’t fall for the TV and Newspaper advertisements.”

It’s pertinent to mention here that earlier, JKSA had written to P.M. Modi, urging him to drop cases of sedition & FIR against 3 Kashmiri students of a college in U.P’s Agra, who uploaded WhatsApp status in favour of Pakistan after India-Pak T20 cricket world cup match.
