A New variant of Covid 19 has been found in South Africa, which has raised a global alarm.
As per a news report published in Daily Mail UK, Salim Javid, the UK Health Secretary sounded an alarm over the new variant calling it the ‘worst-ever super-mutant Covid variant He also said that the variant will make vaccines at least 40 percent less effective.
The UK has banned flights from South Africa and five other countries
He said that the early finding of this variant is that it may be more transmissible than the Delta variant.
The variant, which could be named ‘Nu’ by the World Health Organization in the coming days, has caused an “exponential” rise in infections in South Africa and has already spread to three countries, including Hong Kong and Botswana, where it is believed to have emerged.
