Train service resumed on Sunday in south Kashmir after remaining suspended for two days for security reasons, following killing of a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant in an encounter in Pulwama on April 6.
However, the service was resumed in north Kashmir yesterday after remaining suspended on Friday following strike called by Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and traders against the civilian killings in Shopian and Ganderbal in security force action.
The separatists had called for protests after Friday prayers against these killings.
We have resumed train service in south Kashmir today, a senior railway official told. Therefore, he said, trains will chug on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu as per schedule.
