Doda Resident Booked for Calling General Rawat ‘War Criminal’; Granted Conditional Bail

Sabbah Haji, the former Director of Haji Public School was booked after she referred to Chief of Defence Staff late General Bipin Rawat as a ‘war criminal’ on social media soon after his death in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu.

The Executive Magistrate of Doda district in Jammu Kashmir passed an order to that effect in exercise of powers under Sections 107 (security for keeping the peace),108 (security for good behavior from persons disseminating seditious matters) and 151 (arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences) of the Code of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Bar and Bench reported.

Right-wing trolls widely shared Sabbah’s calling for the closure of the school and initiating legal action against her.

“Bail was granted to her on condition that she will remain present at women’s police station Doda from 10 AM to 02 PM for three days, December 14 to 17, and shall appear before the Executive Magistrate Doda on December 17”, an official told Bar & Bench.

Haji Public School, its management had issued a public note to clarify that Sabbah’s remark about Rawat was not the views of the institution.
