On Wednesday, the residents of Kral Khani and adjoining areas staged a protest against R&B department for failing to provide road connectivity in the area.

It is pertinent to mention that for more than 15 years, the residents of Kral Khani area of Hayan in district Ganderbal have been demanding a link road from Hayan to Kral Khani village. However, the demand only fell on deaf ears.

“People, especially, old aged persons and school going children suffer due to non-availability of a road in the village. It has affected patients, the most,” said the protesting locals.

The protesters added that they had brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities, several times. “However, the repeated promises made by authorities only proved to be hoax, on ground,” they said.

“We request the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, and other higher officials to look into the matter so that the long pending issue is solved,” the locals said.

Meanwhile, The Kashmiriyat contacted Junior Engineer, Ishfaq Rasool, who said that it was a long pending demand and that their department had framed a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and forwarded it to the higher authorities for administrative approval.
