Roads that Costed Lakhs Go invisible within Months in Islamabad Area

September 06

The Government of Jammu Kashmir spend huge sums of money in construction and unfortunately the re construction of the same roads within a small span of time.

Recently the roads in Islamabad township were macadamized by the Roads and Building department of Jammu Kashmir Government, however within a few weeks’ time, by Urban Environment Engineering Department under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation.

In a similar kind of episode, the Rural Development Department (RDD) block Achabal undertook a construction work for the path leading towards Mohallah Bradpora, Dompora in Khundroo locality of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District a few months ago.

However a village level worker claimed that the path was constructed at least a year ago.

The Department constructed a tiled pavement and a concrete path to the villages from the main road, However in a span of less than four months, the tiles and the cement have disappeared and now all one can find is soil and scattered dust.

“We cannot find any tiles or cement here now, we have to just assume that some months ago, construction work was undertaken,” a local Mohammed Yusuf Shah told The Kashmiriyat.

He added that the RDD used sub- standardized material in the construction work.

The Kashmiriyat team visited the spot and located that the almost 100 feet construction which is almost six feet broad, however the road is invisible now.

Locals from Khundroo speaking to The Kashmiriyat asked the concerned authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The Kashmiriyat contacted the Block Development officer of Achabal Block who seemed to be clueless about the issue, despite serving the office of BDO for more than a year.

The District Development commissioner of Islamabad (Anantnag) Younis Malik upon being contacted said that he will personally investigate the matter. (The Kashmiriyat)
